United Way of Coastal and Western Connecticut Awards $463,695 in Impact Philanthropy Grants to 56 Local Organizations

DANBURY, CT (August 29, 2024) – United Way of Coastal and Western Connecticut is excited to announce the recipients of the FY 25 Impact Philanthropy grants. Through our annual Impact Philanthropy grant cycle, we provide financial support to nonprofit partners across the region, fostering significant and positive changes in health, education, and financial stability.

This year, we conducted two grant processes: a rollover grant process and a mini-grant application process. The mini-grant application process received an impressive 114 applications, requesting over $1,000,000 in funding. In total, we are distributing $456,000 to 56 organizations in unrestricted grants to support transformative initiatives in our community.

We are inspired by the outstanding proposals and the unwavering commitment of each applicant to enhance the quality of life for individuals and families in our region. We deeply appreciate the efforts of all applicants and recognize the crucial role each organization plays in our community.

To ensure a fair and thorough selection process, we assembled a diverse grant review committee comprised of 20 community volunteers. These volunteers meticulously reviewed the applications through two rigorous rounds. Finalists were selected by region, with funding allocations guided by the ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) data to address the most pressing needs in each area. The final recommendations were approved by our Board of Directors at their annual meeting on June 12.

While not all applications could be funded this year, we are eager to explore opportunities for partnership and collaboration with all applicants. Organizations should reach out to our Community Impact team via Victoria Scofield at victoria.scofield@unitedwaycwc.org to discuss opportunities for partnership.
